Jay Keister is Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Colorado Boulder. He has studied traditional Japanese music in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in music for kabuki (nagauta) and folk music (minyo). He has been trained in singing and plays shamisen (3-string lute), flutes and percussion. 

Mami Itasaka Keister is Instructor at the University of Colorado Boulder. Trained in classical Japanese dance (kabuki nihon buyo) of the renowned Bando school, her stage name is Miko Bando and she teaches Japanese dance out of her Boulder home. She is also trained in Japanese singing, shamisen and percussion.
